As part of Ohio’s new dyslexia law, schools have created frameworks to provide structured literacy instruction to students who are at risk of dyslexia. The framework includes training for general education teachers and ensuring that schools have specialized knowledge to teach children with reading disabilities. In many cases, at-risk students will be able to catch up with their peers using these supports.
For some students, these supports may not be enough to make adequate progress. When this happens, your child’s teacher may recommend an evaluation for special education.
