Connecting for Kids Outings

Connect with other CFK families through CFK-sponsored outings throughout the year. Outings offer casual, social opportunities for families to get to know each other and the community.

Outing formats will vary, based on location and host, but may include:

  • Parent nights out
  • Family meet-ups
  • Community-hosted activities (baseball games, farm visits, etc.)

For more information on a specific event, please read the outing descriptions.

Learn about organic farming, tour the farm, help with the harvest and plant your own organic seedling at Coleman Gardens, LLC on Saturday, June 24 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Coleman Gardens, located on Lear Road in Avon Lake, is a small farm that uses natural growing practices and is on its way to organic certification. The fenced, 2-acre farm provides a variety of produce all summer long to families and businesses in the area, including salad lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, basil and more. Participants in this program will have the opportunity to:

    • Tour the farm
    • Participate in one of the first harvests of the season
    • Use the super-sized “salad spinner” to help clean and prepare spring mix for market
    • Sample organically grown produce
    • Plant your own seedling
    • Ask questions about the benefits of organic produce

Registration is limited to 10 families, due to limited parking. All ages are welcome to attend and the event is open to the entire family. Strollers/wheelchairs may not be able to access the farm tour due to dirt paths in the farm.

Additional Notes: Coleman Gardens produces honey and has an active bee hive. The tour does not include a visit to the hive, but those with bee allergies should take all necessary precautions. A road construction project is also in process on the corner of Lear and Krebbs roads, near the farm. Please wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops) to this event.

    • Sprenger Stadium, 2009 Baseball Blvd., Avon

Spend the afternoon on the lawn of Sprenger Stadium with your entire family watching the Lake Erie Crushers take on the Schaumburg Boomers.

We want this to be a fun, stress-free event for families. Please join with others that share similar struggles in an accepting environment. The lawn has a paved walkway that is handicap and stroller accessible. Being on the lawn means that kids have the ability to freely move about and not be confined to a seat. If your kids can't sit through a game they can race up and down the hill and have fun while you watch the game.

The tickets are $2.50 if you buy before August 6th. Children under the age of 3 do NOT need to purchase a ticket. Purchase your tickets through CFK and pick up your tickets game day at will call. You must be a CFK family, educator, board member or staff member to purchase the tickets at this special price.  Join now!

After August 7th you can purchase tickets at the door for $6 each.

There are no refunds for this event. If the game is canceled due to rain, it is the responsibility of each individual family to exchange the tickets with the Lake Erie Crushers.
