Join Our Board

As a member of the Connecting for Kids Board of Directors, your service directly impacts the lives of Cleveland-area families who have a concern about their child.

Previous board experience is not necessary to apply; however, all applicants will be interviewed for qualifications and experience that will help our organization to carry out its mission.

Connecting for Kids seeks diverse candidates to ensure that a range of skills, professional backgrounds, and lived experiences are represented.

Role Description:

Connecting for Kids Board Members are responsible and accountable for ensuring the organization fulfills its mission through oversight and fundraising. Board Members are expected to serve a three-year term, which may be renewed up to three times. Additional requirements include:

  • Attend four board meetings and one annual board retreat per calendar year.
  • Serve on at least one standing committee (Governance, Finance, Programming, Fundraising, etc.).
  • Attend at least two Connecting for Kids programs per year. These programs may include parent discussion groups, support meetings, or hands-on sessions.
  • Demonstrate financial leadership and commitment to the organization's success by making a meaningful personal financial contribution each year.
  • Set personal fundraising goals each year and grow the Connecting for Kids donor base with personal and professional relationships.
  • Purchase or fill a table at the Connecting for Kids Annual Fundraiser.
  • Bring your unique skills, networks, and experiences to the board as a whole. We expect board members to bring "their whole selves" to the work of the board - leveraging their skills, networks and experiences to help the organization reach its goals.

Process:

To apply for a position on the Connecting for Kids Board of Directors, please complete and submit the application form below by April 15, 2026. All applicants will be interviewed by the Executive Director and two Governance Committee Members. Once the interview process is complete, a recommendation will be brought to the entire Board for a vote.
