Adapted Programming at Westlake Porter Public Library (WPPL)

Located on Center Ridge Rd. in Westlake, WPPL offers a variety of programs targeting children, ages 3-12 years, and focusing on literacy, learning and social interactions.     This cross-generational program connects patients with Parkinson's with our community by sharing stories, songs and movement in this interactive storytime. Ages 2-6, siblings welcome.

    In partnership with UH Rehab Exercise Program for Parkinson's Patients and the Star Center Foundation, this program engages children in an interactive storytime while providing an opportunity for patients with Parkinson's to practice strengthening their vocal chords as part of their quality of life training. This storytime will be co-led by library staff, Star Center Foundation staff, and patients from UH sharing stories, songs, and gross motor movement with families encouraging a joy of reading and inspiring confidence in both readers and children.

    This is NOT a Connecting for Kids program; however, registration is available via our website through our partnership with Westlake Porter Public Library.

    Guitars, ukuleles, keyboards & dozens of percussion instruments! Oh my! It's like a petting zoo but for instruments. Presented by Keep Music Alive. This inclusive event is for all abilities & ages.

    This drop-in event may get noisy. Limited sensory kits will be available. Families are encouraged to ask for one and/or bring one. You can find more information about Keep Music Alive here.

    We are pleased to partner with the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a Library Facilitator location. WPPL thanks the Cuyahoga DD for their grant to accomplish a year of inclusive programming.

    Children with varying learning styles and abilities learn together in a safe, supportive environment where respect and appreciation for differences is encouraged. This storytime is designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime experience. Content is geared toward ages 3 - 7 years, but all ages are welcome. Siblings may also attend but must register separately.

    An open playtime for children of all abilities ages 2-7 with a caring adult. Siblings welcome! No registration needed.

    No registration required. Developmentally appropriate toys and a sensory station will be provided for open, imaginative, nonjudgmental play. Adults are responsible for supervising their children. Questions? Contact the Youth Services at 440-250-5471.

    This inclusive 1-hr camp welcomes dancers of all abilities to participate in a warm up, learn choreography, meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, and give a short performance of The Nutcracker! Ages 3 and up.

    Magician & autism advocate Cody Clark combines his experiences as a performer & autistic adult to create a magic show accessible to all. Ages 8 & up with grown up. Adults with disabilities welcome!

    Cody has removed the loud noises and overly complex plots...but without removing the fun! Be inspired by Cody's stories of what autism means to him. Be amazed by his love of magic. Attendees are welcome to enjoy and react to the show as they choose. Need a sensory support? A limited supply of noise-dampening headphones, weighted lap blankets, and fidgets are available or feel free to bring your own favorite support!

    Enjoy a low impact walk around library property, starting in the Reading Garden. Dress for the weather and bring water! All ages.

    The library will provide devices for participants. You may use your own camera, phone, or other device, if you prefer. Photography will be featured in the library gallery in September 2025. For those with disabilities and their families.
