Do you work outside the home? I am a substitute teacher.

What do you do to relax?
I cook, work on the computer and spend time with my family.

What benefits has CFK brought to you and your family? Connecting for Kids helped me get my son on an IEP by giving me support and sharing resources.

Which CFK resources have you tapped into to help your child? I have attended Parent Discussion Groups and was able to find other parents in similar situations. I have also tapped into information on the website, Pinterest site, and Facebook page.

What have been some of your favorite CFK Resources? The Parent Mentors where you can connect with parents whose children are struggling with the same issues as yours, so you know that you are not alone.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself the day we got the diagnosis, I would say... It is not your fault and it is nothing you did wrong. Your child is just wired a little different and learns differently than other children. Love and embrace everything about him.

The best thing about parenting a child who struggles is... Watching and seeing that he is blossoming in ways I never imagined. He is overcoming obstacles that seemed to be insurmountable. I love the look on his face when he does something and it clicks for him.

The hardest thing for me to learn was... That I need to let go and let him do what he needs to do. He needs to grow and explore and find his way, socially, emotionally and education wise.

Gail is the parent of two children.
