Learn about organic farming, tour the farm, help with the harvest and plant your own organic seedling at Coleman Gardens, LLC on Saturday, June 24 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Coleman Gardens, located on Lear Road in Avon Lake, is a small farm that uses natural growing practices and is on its way to organic certification. The fenced, 2-acre farm provides a variety of produce all summer long to families and businesses in the area, including salad lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, basil and more. Participants in this program will have the opportunity to:
Registration is limited to 10 families, due to limited parking. All ages are welcome to attend and the event is open to the entire family. Strollers/wheelchairs may not be able to access the farm tour due to dirt paths in the farm.
Additional Notes: Coleman Gardens produces honey and has an active bee hive. The tour does not include a visit to the hive, but those with bee allergies should take all necessary precautions. A road construction project is also in process on the corner of Lear and Krebbs roads, near the farm. Please wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops) to this event.
